Statement of the National Assembly of Youth Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Last night on the 17th of October the Armenian armed forces again attacked the city of Ganja with Scud tactical ballistic missiles killing 13 civilians, including 2 children, and injuring more than 50 so far. A whole residential street was razed to ground. Search for people still continues on the destruction site.

This is yet another case of flagrant violation by Armenia of the humanitarian ceasefire agreed on 10 October, and constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions.

It further demonstrates the full determination of the Armenian political and military leadership to use all illegal means in order to maintain the occupation of the Azerbaijani territories, disguise the recent defeats on the battleground and terrorize the people of Azerbaijan.

On behalf of 133 member youth organisations, the National Assembly of Youth Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan is frustrated with inappropriate attention to such heinous crimes of the Armenian military, which encourage them to new atrocities, and calls on the international community to raise their voice against the terrorist policy of Armenia and to bring the plights of the Azerbaijani children and youth victims of this terror onto the world political agenda.
